Please refer to the tips below to enjoy meeting others safely.
1. Share the date, time and location of your planned offline meeting with friends and family.
Always let your friends and family know who, where, and when you will be meeting before you go meet them in person. If the meeting location gets moved last minute, or if you decide to go somewhere else throughout the meeting, let your friends and family know the new location. Lastly, don't forget to bring a fully charged phone with you!
2. Choose a public place.
When meeting someone offline for the first time, it's better to meet them in a public place that you are both familiar with. Be careful not to have an offline meeting in remote and deserted places, or in someone’s private home.
3. Do not rely on them for transportation.
To ensure you stay safe prior to and after an offline meeting, it is best to organize your own mode of transportation and to refuse any pick-up or drop-off offers they may make. In addition, if you are meeting someone for the first time, you should refrain from sharing your address and from getting into their vehicle.
4. Please refrain from drinking a lot when meeting someone offline.
Excessive drinking can cloud your judgment and may create a situation that is difficult to control. Please be mindful of how much alcohol you are comfortable consuming prior to meeting any stranger offline. If they try to force you to consume alcohol against your will, immediately express your refusal and make sure to end the meeting straight away.
5. Do not leave your belongings unattended.
Ensure that any belongings you may bring, such as phones, wallets, and bags, remain with you at all times.
6. In case of need, ask those around you for assistance.
Do not hesitate to ask for help from anyone around you, or to contact your family and friends if you need it. In case of an emergency, please contact the police.
7. Do not forget that you can always end and leave the meeting at any time.
If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable at any point throughout the offline meeting, please stop the meeting and return home immediately. Your safety is the most important thing, so do not hesitate to leave the meeting if you think you may be at risk.
When meeting someone offline, please prioritize your safety and comfort, and always ask for help if in need.
